Grandmother’s 7-Up Pound Cake

This is Laurel Cleek grandmother’s recipe.  She made this cake nearly every week into her 90s!













2 sticks margarine
1/2 c vegetable oil
1 c 7-Up
5 eggs
2 1/2 c sugar
3 1/2 c flour
1 t. Vanilla
3/4 t. Lemon favoring

Cream margarine and oil with sugar and add the 5 eggs at room temperature.

Alternate flour with 7-Up.  Flour first and last.

Bake at 325 for 1 hour.

  1. This is my favorite cake and has been since I was at my grandmothers in Quincy Illinois for a visit maybe it was a family recipe she learned when a little girl. Her name was Daisy Ethel Cleek Minnerly
